Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Nanotouch technology, its use, safety and durability.

Technology and use

How does Nanotouch technology work?

The seventh-generation quaternary ammonium components used in the Nanotouch formulation contain odourless, colourless and positively charged polymers. These polymers allow Nanotouch to bind to the applied surface at a molecular level. You can think of this protective layer as a surface covered with electrically charged swords. When a microorganism comes into contact with the surface, these molecular swords pierce the cell membrane of the harmful microorganism and shock the cell with an electric charge, ending its vital cycle. Since no substance is transferred to the killed cell, the antimicrobial potency is not lost and the swords remain active, waiting for the next harmful microorganism.

What does the silane molecule in Nanotouch do?

Silane molecules are highly efficient components that can bind with other molecules and then form a permanent bond with the applied surface. The antimicrobial silane molecules in Nanotouch allow binding to all types of surfaces and stop microbial development.

Which surfaces can Nanotouch be applied to?

When applied to surfaces such as silica surfaces (glass, glass wool, sand, stone and ceramics), natural fibres (cotton, wool, linen, felt), synthetic fibres (acrylic, modacrylic, polyester, cellulose acetate, rayon, acetate, anidex, standex, vinyl, dacron and viscose), metals (aluminium, stainless steel and galvanised metal), leather, rubber, wood, plastic, formica and zeolite, it destroys 99.99% of the harmful microorganisms on the surface and, by staying active on the surface for long periods, prevents them from re-forming thanks to the nano-sized protective shield it creates. Nanotouch can be used safely on all surfaces in living spaces that are frequently touched in daily life, such as door handles and knobs, gloves, cabinets, electrical switches, computer keyboards and telephones. It is suitable for use as a bacteriostatic supplement on all surfaces that can produce odour-causing bacteria, mould and algae, such as shower cabins, countertops, tiles and plaster, carpets, equipment and walls.

What are the differences between Nanotouch and other disinfectants?

Conventional disinfectants show antimicrobial action very quickly when used on any surface. However, within the first few minutes after application, biological activity in the environment begins again and the environment quickly becomes open to contamination. In addition, the types of harmful microorganisms that such disinfectants act on are limited. Nanotouch follows a unique path in the process of disinfection and post-disinfection protection. It provides an effective antimicrobial effect from the moment it is applied, but unlike traditional disinfection methods, the surfaces it is applied to are permanently protected and the reproduction of harmful microorganisms is prevented. In short, the surface on which Nanotouch is applied itself becomes antimicrobial.

Which harmful microorganisms is Nanotouch technology effective against?

Nanotouch technology is effective against all bacteria, viruses, algae and mould. The effect list, determined by testing the microbes and viruses in approved laboratories, can be obtained from our corporate office.

What preparation is needed before using Nanotouch?

The surface must be free of visible dirt such as dust, oil and rust. Apart from this, no pre-treatment is required.

Health and safety

Is Nanotouch harmful to health?

No. Both the active ingredient in the product and the tests carried out on Nanotouch show that it has no negative effect on human and animal health.

Is Nanotouch harmful to the environment?

No. None of the components in Nanotouch have a harmful effect on the environment.

Is Nanotouch safe to use on baby products and items?

Yes. Nanotouch can be used safely on baby products and infants' belongings. After application, care should be taken that the applied surface is dry. There is no harm in babies coming into contact with dried items.

Is there any harm in a pregnant person being in an environment where Nanotouch is used?

No. After application, care should be taken that the applied surface is dry. There is no harm in pregnant people coming into contact with dried items.

How do I know Nanotouch is safe to use?

Nanotouch technology has been tested in independent laboratories and has a long history of observation showing that it is used safely. Organosilane is EPA registered for all applications where it is used.

Has anyone become ill from using Nanotouch?

No. Detailed laboratory tests and past experience show that Nanotouch surface protection is safe. Although it is impossible to say that no one will ever have an allergic reaction to Nanotouch, the chance of experiencing a negative effect is very low.

Effect and durability

How quickly does Nanotouch take effect?

Nanotouch protection begins to take effect as soon as it comes into contact with a microorganism, and continues to work to reduce the load of living organisms. Under the right conditions, harmful microorganisms on an untreated surface can double every 20 minutes. Nanotouch does not allow such a negative situation to occur.

How long does Nanotouch remain effective?

Nanotouch binds to the surface at a molecular level and does not separate from it for the periods foreseen by the structural properties of the surface. It is designed to provide protection for 20 days or more, depending on the type of surface it is applied to.

Is Nanotouch removed from the surface by washing or wiping?

No. Thanks to its binding property, Nanotouch becomes part of the surface it is applied to. It is not affected by daily washing or wiping, unless the surface is washed with acidic or basic (pH<3.5 or pH>10.5) solutions or cleaned with very abrasive movements (for example, wire wool).

Why is Nanotouch so durable?

Thanks to the excellent chemical bond (covalent bond) obtained through the correct formulation, the bonded polymers do not dissolve or evaporate. The unique bond of the Nanotouch polymer is the most important part of our product.

Can using Nanotouch cause resistance in microorganisms and create super bacteria?

No. Because Nanotouch acts mechanically throughout the disinfection and protection processes, adaptation or mutation does not occur in harmful microorganisms.

Is Nanotouch permeable to moisture?

Yes, moisture on the treated surface can pass through the application. After curing, the application is partially hydrophobic (waterproof) but should not be compared to commercial waterproof products. Nanotouch is not effective against damp; however, it is very effective in removing bad odours caused by bacteria that occur in humid environments.

Does all this mean I do not need to clean so often or so carefully?

No. Nanotouch protection provides continuous antimicrobial protection on the surfaces around you, helping you during cleaning and between cleans. However, normal cleaning practices should be continued.

What studies are available on Nanotouch technology?

There are detailed studies spread over a wide range of sectors. Laboratory test results for Nanotouch, scientific studies on the technology and ATP field studies from areas where it has been applied can be obtained from our corporate office.
